Advanced Hair Clinics at the 14th Annual Meeting of FUE Europe in Warsaw

The Advanced Hair Clinics team participated with a multifaceted scientific presence in the 14th Annual Meeting of the FUE Europe Society of Hair Restoration, held from 10 to 12 September 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Warsaw – The HUB in Warsaw.

The three-day event focused on diagnosis, trichoscopy, medical treatments, regenerative medicine and surgical hair restoration. The programme concluded with live surgery sessions and educational workshops.

The participation of Dr. Anastasios Vekris in his role as President of the FUE Europe Society of Hair Restoration was particularly significant, along with the presence of three other physicians from Advanced Hair Clinics:

  • Dimitris Alexandris, who presented the impact of androgenetic alopecia on quality of life
  • Antonia Andriopoulou, who delivered a lecture on hair follicle placement with sharp implanters and participated in a Long Hair FUE workshop
  • Chrysa Agioti, who participated as a member of the event’s international faculty

Dr. Anastasios Vekris as President of FUE Europe

Dr. Vekris opened the scientific programme of the congress, presenting his vision for the development of FUE Europe and emphasising the importance of international collaboration in modern Hair Restoration.

In his official message, he highlighted the rapid evolution of the field as techniques improve, technological capabilities expand and patient expectations increase. The exchange of clinical knowledge among physicians and the maintenance of high safety standards remain central to this progress.

At the same time, Dr. Vekris moderated the scientific Repair session, which focused on correcting unsuccessful procedures and restoring complex scars.

Scar Restoration: Dr. Vekris’ Lecture

As part of the Repair session, Dr. Vekris delivered the lecture “Scar Restoration,” analysing the role of FUE in restoring scars on the face and scalp.

The management of such cases requires an assessment of the blood supply and elasticity of the scar tissue, as well as the availability of a sufficient donor area. In selected cases, FUE can be performed directly, while more complex defects may require a combination with plastic surgery techniques.

The lecture formed part of a broader discussion on repair cases, in which initial planning, donor-area management and the preservation of options for future correction are particularly important.

Live Surgery Workshop on Long Hair FUE

During the third day of the event, Dr. Vekris and Dr. Antonia Andriopoulou participated in the specialised workshop “War of the Machines – Long Hair FUE.”

Long Hair FUE enables hair follicles to be extracted and implanted without shaving the length of the hair. This allows the patient to gain an immediate impression of the design, direction and future distribution of the hair.

The technique requires specialised equipment and advanced surgical precision, as the length of the hair affects both the extraction and the handling required during placement.

Through the live procedure, participants had the opportunity to observe the surgical workflow and the technical decisions required under real operating conditions.

Beyond Aesthetics: The Impact of Alopecia on Quality of Life

Dr. Dimitris Alexandris, Hair Surgeon at Advanced Hair Clinics, presented the lecture “Beyond Aesthetics: The Impact of Androgenetic Alopecia on Quality of Life in Hair Transplant Candidates.”

The presentation focused on the psychological and social dimensions of androgenetic alopecia. Although it is not a life-threatening condition, it can affect a person’s self-image, confidence and social functioning.

One of the key points of the lecture was that the clinical severity of hair thinning does not always correspond to the level of psychological burden. A patient with limited hair loss may experience significant emotional distress, while another with more advanced alopecia may report a smaller impact on daily life.

Several areas can be examined when assessing hair-related quality of life, including emotions, self-confidence, social functioning, feelings of stigmatisation and physical symptoms.

The presentation also included preliminary data from a study involving patients who specifically sought hair transplantation. This group is of particular interest because its members have already reached the point of considering a surgical solution.

The main scientific message was that the success of a hair transplant is not limited to hair follicle growth or the creation of natural-looking density. It also requires an understanding of the patient’s expectations and personal experience of hair loss.

Graft Placement Using Sharp Implanters

Dr. Antonia Andriopoulou, Hair Surgeon and Deputy Scientific Director of Advanced Hair Clinics, delivered the lecture “Graft Placement Using Sharp Implanters: Tips & Tricks.”

Sharp implanters allow the surgeon to create the recipient site and place the hair follicle in a single step, without first opening all the recipient sites.

The technique can reduce skin trauma and bleeding during placement while giving the surgeon direct control over angle, direction and density. However, it has a demanding learning curve and requires extensive experience, particularly in large sessions.

Dr. Andriopoulou presented practical details regarding the preparation of the implanters, the adjustment of needle length to the hair follicles and the organisation of the placement process.

Particular emphasis was placed on selecting the appropriate diameter, maintaining a stable position of the instrument and coordinating with the medical team to ensure a continuous workflow without unnecessary handling.

The technique was also demonstrated through applications in demanding areas such as scars, eyebrows and the beard, where precision in direction and growth angle plays a decisive role in achieving a natural result.

A Comprehensive Approach to Hair Restoration

The participation of Advanced Hair Clinics in the 14th Annual Meeting of FUE Europe covered different aspects of modern Hair Restoration: the organisation and scientific direction of the congress, reconstructive surgery, the psychological impact of alopecia and precise hair follicle placement techniques.

A common principle across the presentations was that hair transplantation is not a standardised procedure. Its success depends on accurate diagnosis, an understanding of the patient’s needs, individualised planning and the careful execution of every surgical stage.

As a Globally Awarded Clinic, with 15 clinics across Greece and Cyprus, Advanced Hair Clinics continues to play an active role in the international scientific community. The participation of four physicians from its team in the Warsaw meeting highlighted both the clinic’s clinical experience and its contribution to education and the advancement of modern Hair Restoration.
